The registration procedure in our nursery schools
Meeting in person - by the end of December of the previous year
You are welcome to contact the management of our nursery schools to find out how you can get to know the school personally.
Pre-registration through the parent portal LITTLE BIRD - until January
Before enrolling, you must register at https://kinderbetreuung.essen.de/ in the LITTLE BIRD parent portal of the City of Essen and create a profile. Registration via the LITTLE BIRD parent portal is necessary in any case.
Remark:
You need the childcare pass number (KiBe number in short) to register. Citizens of Essen receive this automatically from the Youth Welfare Office after the birth of their child.

If you are an employee of Diakoniewerk or would like to transfer with your child from a Diakoniewerk day care worker to a nursery school, please feel free to mention this in the comments field.
Confirmation of admission (as of March)
Provided you receive an admission confirmation from us, you will receive this via the LITTLE BIRD parent portal by e-mail.
Please note:
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to admit all children due to space, facilities and limited staff.
